June News:

1.  We will be in the news:

We had been informed that we will be in the news on the 13th of June but the article didn't go out yet.  We will let you know as soon as we receive reliable information from the SCMP.  We will be quoted commenting on detox programs.  Summer is a great time to do a cleanse.  We are happy to share with you what we know about doing a detox and what options you have.  Sign up to our e-mail list if you have not already and stay tuned.

The followings are events in the community of wellness and personal development that we recommend this month:

3. Medical Qi Gong Courses starting 14th June (free trial and introductory talk every Tuesday)

Chi Gong is an ancient form of energy exercise from China.

Beijing Qi Tao Studio is now offering free trial every Tuesday to new comers.

A series of Chi Gong new courses are starting this month.   Courses and talks are often bi-lingual/tri-lingual.  (English, Cantonese, Mandarin)

The Five Elements Palm is the entry level course and it's starting the 14th of June.  It's a set of very easy to learn Chi Gong that anyone can pick up and practise to good results.   We like the balance of stillness and dynamic movement in this simple set of Chi Gong.  We have met the Beijing Chi Gong master Profesor Liu in person who taught Agnes, the Chi Gong master who's running the centre and teaching the basic level courses.  Professor Liu has been researching and teaching Chi Gong for decades in China.  We are impressed with the way he "lives" what he teaches.  Professor Liu comes to Hong Kong for private sessions and teaching advanced level courses every month.

4. Love Your Work in 5 Steps - 16th June

For most of us we spend most of our time at work.  Do you love you work?  How to love your work?  Or what to do if you don't?  Angela Spaxman and Carole Lewis are career coaches and experts in helping people to love their work.

5. Overcoming Your Allergies - 18th June

We attended the first allergy talk by IMI's newest senior naturopath Peter Damestoy last month.  It was an eye-opening talk and the Vega Testing Peter is specialized in is the newsest in Hong Kong and one of its uses is in desensitization.  It offers the opportunity of uprooting the causes of allergies, which we think is superior to the traditional avoidance approach.  This second free talk is offered out of popular demand.  Booking required.

6.  Calm Control- 24th & 25th June (Tue & Wed)

We have heard many good things about this workshop by Organising Solutions and we are going to this workshop to learn how to get ORGANISED!  This workshop is geared for people who work in an office or at home.

7. Chinese Health talks by Dr. Alexendar Yuan

Dr. Yuan is a naturopath, homeopath, chiropractor and TCM doctor and has been practising in Hong Kong since the 80's.  He has been tirelessly promoting natural medicine, colon hydrotherapy and giving educational talks for Hong Kong people.  Dr. Yuan is bilingual and was trained in Canada.  Notable talks this month are:

Homeopathy (at Club O) - free talk and home users' course

(Dr. Yuan is the most experienced homeopath in Hong Kong.  He has Chinese CD's introducing homeopathy and travel kits for sale at his Green Concepts store in Causeway Bay)

(Click here for Anita's blog entry on her personal experience with homeopathic medicine in general)

Pain Control Workshop - free talk and demo of the use of "Space Healer", a revolutionary, drug-less and efficient way to relieve pain and tension, and revitalize energy - translation available (ask us for our personal experience of using this easy hand held device)

PAST EVENTS:

Enneagram Programs and Luncheon Talk

Enneagram is a very insightful personal development tool, especially if taught by a properly trained trainer.  It helps us to understand ourselves and others and from this understanding we can transform our communication with others and our life.  Here are three events with Dr. Ginger Lapid-Bogda, past President of the International Enneagram Association, who is in Hong Kong this month:

Luncheon Talk - 5th June (Thu)
Enneagram in Business Leadership Workshop - 7th and 8th June (Sat and Sun)
Enneagram in Business Certification Program - 11th to 15th June (Wed to Sun)

May Recommendations:

This Darling Life - independent film created in Hong Kong, opens 8th May.  Read about it here.

Buteko Breathing Workshops are back - I have personally benefitted from it many years ago and am still enjoying the benefits.  Great for asthma, stress related cough, migraine etc.  Check out the schedules here.

Wellness Coaching is quickly becoming popular in places like the US, where coaching for performance and personal growth originated. As wellness awareness raises and more people are looking for ways to be healthy and happy - the basic human needs above survival, it's natural that wellness coaching is being much talked about now.  SCMP ran a feature on Wellness Coaching in its 11th April (Friday) issue (in the Style Magazine).  Anita has given comments for it and given wellness tips to its readers.
